Eating Disorder Recovery For Adults

Looking for expert nutrition support from a dietitian?

If you’re struggling with food, eating and your relationship with your body – you’re not alone. Whether your challenges with food are new, long-standing or somewhere in-between, reaching out for support takes immense courage.

As a dietitian specialising in eating disorders, I am an essential member of your recovery team. I offer compassionate, evidence-based, and weight-inclusive nutrition support using a trauma-informed and body-affirming lens. My goal is to help you build trust with your body, reconnect to your body’s wisdom, challenge harmful beliefs around food and bodies and support your recovery while working alongside your doctor and psychologist.

I do not use a “one-size fits all” approach. Every person is unique, which means I work to meet you where you are, taking into account your specific situation and circumstances. This is why when you choose to work with me, I spend time getting to know you in our first sessions together. If we work together, you can expect a non-judgemental space where you are the expert of you. You can learn more about what to expect when we work together below or by booking a 20-minute complimentary call with me.

Reasons why you might choose to work with me:

  • You want to find joy and pleasure in eating again.
  • Worrying about what to eat is taking up all your time, energy and mental bandwidth.
  • Negative thoughts about food and your body are preventing you from enjoying life and being present with the people you love.
  • You want to feel confident about your food choices despite confusing and conflicting nutrition information from the outside world.
  • You are concerned about passing down your food and body worries to your kids.
  • You want to live a full life again, without food and body worry.
  • You have a history of an eating disorder and are going through a transition in life like going to university, pregnancy or menopause.

It is possible to find peace with food, movement and your body. And you deserve that!

Who I support

I support adults across the spectrum of disordered eating and eating disorders including:

  • Anorexia nervosa
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Binge Eating Disorder
  • Othorexia
  • Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

But you don’t have to have a diagnosis of an eating disorder to work with me. Each person’s situation and experience is unique – and valid. Even if you don’t have a formal diagnosis of an eating disorder, if your relationship with food is impacting your life, you still deserve support. You don’t need to look a certain way, and you certainly don’t need to “tick all the boxes” of a particular eating disorder diagnosis in order to deserve (and get) support.

I welcome people of all body sizes, backgrounds, genders and identities, including anyone who may have been told they’re “not sick enough” to deserve care. If food and body worry is interfering with your life, you are worthy and deserving of help.

What To Expect

A Sneak Peak Inside Your Healing Journey

Strong foundations

1-3 sessions

We’ll start with exploring your past and current relationship with food, body and movement. I’ll ask questions about your medical history, sleep, stress, digestive issues, medications you might be taking and more so I can learn as much as possible to support you. Completing a full nutritional assessment takes 1-3 sessions. During these sessions I make time to really listen. I want you to leave each appointment feeling safe and heard. This lays a strong foundation for our future work together. Based on the nutritional assessment and what we discuss in these sessions, we’ll define your goals, some strategies you can use and a plan moving forward.

Progress

As many sessions as you need

Our follow-up sessions of 45 minutes take place according to your individual situation and needs. We reflect on your progress towards your goals, work on reducing barriers to achieving those goals and/or consider implementing new/additional strategies. We also make time to celebrate your wins!

Additional Support

Meeting your needs

I want you to feel as supported as possible, so you’ll receive an email summary after every session. For any question or concern between sessions you have access to me so that you feel supported throughout the time we work together.

Additional services offered between sessions that are extremely helpful in recovery include: meal support and developing cooking skills.

Freedom & Ease

As many sessions as you need

You are beginning to rediscover a more peaceful relationship with food — one built on trust, confidence, and self-compassion. Food no longer feels so hard. You feel more at ease around food and in your body, knowing you can and deserve to nourish yourself without fear or guilt.  Blood tests, medical and other tests may show improvement. We reflect on and celebrate the progress you’ve made. We may meet less often, but we’ll continue to work together as long as you like.
